Volunteer Centre Mole Valley held an Open Evening at the Point at Lyons Court , Dorking during the Gala night celebrations in December. This gave local people the opportunity to meet with advisors from the volunteer centre out of normal working hours, and chat through ideas of how to get involved in the local community. Whilst the shocking weather didn’t help the number of visitors able to get to us, , it was fantastic that one of our potential volunteers we met is already well on the way to being involved with a local driving scheme.
Over the next few months the Volunteer Centre is also hoping to hold a coffee morning to invite anyone thinking of volunteering to come along and find out more! These sort of events are a really good way of discovering how you can have fun doing something you might not have tried before, increase you confidence and make new friends whilst helping the local community at the same time! You could be working outdoors, with animals, befriending a vulnerable person, join an organisation on the committee, assisting on local sport and leisure activities, or helping with driving, catering or computing – to name but a few!
Taking that first step into volunteering couldn’t be easier – just get in touch with us here at the Volunteer Centre based in Dorking, and you can have a chat with one of our friendly and knowledgeable advisors who will be able to signpost you in the right direction.
We are hoping that more and more people will think about volunteering in the New Year and do something fantastic to make a difference in Mole Valley!
