Volunteering Opportunity: Caseworker/Visitor
Suitable for volunteers interested in: Homeless, Children, Disability, Families
Opportunity activities: Providing Advice, Care Work
Description: Caseworker / visitors to help ex-Servicemen and women and their families in times of need. Some are retired, some disabled, some lonely, some newly discharged from the Forces. All need help – they want to be independent, mobile and socially included. You will be visiting them in their own homes to establish their needs and to determine their eligibility for help, you will then contact the statutory authorities and/or local and Service charities as appropriate. Personal satisfaction of being a SSAFA volunteer is very high. Casework is sporadic and very varied and can easily be combined with other interests/activities.
What is the organisation looking for? A mature approach, common sense, initiative, determination, discretion and ability to work with people. Use of own car desirable. Forces background not essential. Full training is provided at no cost to the volunteer and regular yearly followup training is also provided. Part of being a SSAFA volunteer is also being part of a team and SSAFA volunteers are fully supporterd by their organisation.
Practical considerations: Visiting clients in their own homes in the areas of Esher, Weybridge, Leatherhead and Dorking areas
